Daughter of the Nile by Bernice Buhagiar till end of April 2013

Daughter of the Nile is Bernice’s fourth solo art exhibition. She have previosuly exhibited her work namely at Auberge de France and Peace Band Club, as well in several collective exhibitions.

Daughter of the Nile brings alive tales of a land of mystery and magic - Egypt.

Through this colourful, imaginative and vibrant journey, one encounters the enthralling tales of gods, magic and adventure. The ornate Pyramids, the enchanting Nile, and several goddesses who were honored in Ancient Egypt, including Isis- mistress of the gods and Hathor- Lady of Love, are protagonists in this exhibition.

The female nude is used as a metaphor to bring these goddesses and myths to life. My aim for the audience is to relish the oldest stories in the world, which echo tantalizing glimpses from the lost world of Ancient Egypt. Furthermore, getting to know about the past is a way of understanding ourselves now.

The artist’s aim for her audience is to relish the oldest stories in the world, which echo tantalising glimpses from the lost world of Ancient Egypt. Getting to know about the past is a way of understanding ourselves now. Aren’t we the same? Or different?
