The Gozo Creative Theatre Club’s latest production Frozen by Bryony Lavery

In collaboration with the Gozo Culture and Information Office (Ministry for Gozo), the reputable amateur theatrical group The Gozo Creative Theatre Club will perform the powerful and emotional play Frozen by the British playwright and director Byony Lavery.

Frozen is about the murder of a ten-year-old girl by a child-molesting serial killer and the crime's aftermath. It focuses on Agnetha, a criminal psychologist and her relationship with Ralph, a convicted paedophile and serial killer, and Nancy, whose young daughter was one of Ralph's many victims. The three lives slowly intersect and the characters gradually change and become "unfrozen" as they come to terms with the idea of forgiveness.

Frozen raises issues of great importance for criminal justice. Is the murderer evil or is his crime only the symptom of an illness? The play also explores the act of forgiveness. How can it be possible for a mother to forgive a man who has sexually molested and murdered her young daughter? Overall it is a compassionate play about grief, revenge, forgiveness and bearing the unbearable.

The cast features Sharona Refalo as Agnetha, Andy Fava as Ralph, Marlene Saliba as Nancy and Darren Muscat as the Guard. This production will be directed by the Gozo Creative Theatre Club’s artistic director George Mizzi.

The setting for this performance is the Cittadella Cultural Centre, Citadel, Victoria, Gozo on Saturday 27th February and Sunday 28th February 2016 from 7.30pm onwards. Entrance is free and the seating will be on a first come first served basis. Kindly note that this play is suitable for a mature audience only.
