Local band Relikc - The Code of Antics album launch

This could be the next big thing on the local scene.   Don't miss Relikc's album launch.

In 2015, they released a four-track EP titled “It’s Not Misspelt”, a comedic title, taking a jab at the unconventional spelling of the band name, Relikc.

The EP contained a number of songs that they had been saving for a future album, however, the members soon realized that they had grown from their school years, and their writing style had matured towards a more refined and consistent genre.

They decided it was best to release the songs as an EP and start over with a totally fresh outlook. Three music videos were also released to the public alongside the EP, keeping the band busy for most of the year.

Album launch: Madliena Lodge 21st July 2017

Fat Funk - clubbing

The Maltese summer fever has touched down, so we feel that it's the right time to share our main event of the season. The movement that is fatFunk is back with a right cracker. When we first set out, we promised to keep things real and moving in to our 4th year we are sticking to the plan. Our chosen artist for this event is not your average big name, but an unsung champ who in turn, has the big names longing for his collection of records.
fatFunk warmly welcomes Al Dockside, a DJ/Producer who kickstarted ear training early on thanks to his fathers vast record collection.

He's been exposed to the real stuff from day 1 and still holds some of the best records known to Dj's. Add a stellar catalogue of producers on his label 'Dockside Records' which has been running for 6 years and you know this man screams quality. Humble in his approach but in your face with the music we are particularly excited about seeing your reaction to his selection. For this year we have a wh…

The Crystal Palace - Ballet

The music of the famous contemporary composer Alexey Shor has been specially selected for this performance. Shor, like no other, connects Russia and Malta through his musical pieces. Born in the former Soviet Union, he is now a composer-in-residence with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra Academy.

Based on historical archives, Russian theatre professionals will recreate the atmosphere of the 18th Century using original Baroque decorations and costumes for the Valletta pre-premier.

“The Crystal Palace” takes place in 1740, at the court of the Russian Empress Anna Ioannovna. In the capital, luxurious celebrations have been organised. In one of them Her Majesty learns about two sweethearts and orders them to marry. But the hearts of the lovers are not filled with joy. For the bride and the groom, by the order of the Empress,  must spend the winter night after the nuptuals in a specially-erected palace, where the walls, the bed, and even the flowers, were made of ice.

Paul Capsis & Julian Meyrick: Angela's Kitchen

Told simply and truthfully, Angela’s Kitchen by Griffin Theatre Company, is an astonishingly evocative piece of autobiographical theatre. Angela’s Kitchen is a play about Paul Capsis’s connection with his maternal grandmother Angela and her island home of Malta. A journey that begins at a kitchen table becomes a portrait, not just of a much-loved matriarch, but of a whole generation. In 1948, Angela left Malta. Having gathered up her five children, she sailed out on the Strathnavar, leaving poverty and the war behind. Her destination: Australia.

The experience of a migrant’s flight from trauma to safety is a universal one – as is the resulting displacement and the fractured family narratives that are left in its wake. Capsis seamlessly and often hilariously brings to life the extraordinary characters of his family. Angela’s story provides a window into an ordinary life, but an ordinary life made of epic stuff – war, death, courage and endurance. Angela’s Kitchen makes its audience ask …

Leo Sayer is not only a top singer artist and song writer, but is also one of the best where stand-up comedy comes in place, a light-hearted ingredient evidently present during most of his concerts.

Coinciding with this year’s Father’s Day, Leo Sayer & Band live in Concert will surely go down as a massive treat for dads and everyone else who would like to embark on a little trip down memory lane.

Supported by Local Talents:
> Mykill Dj
> Carlos Pintor
> Alex De Bahia

Eiffel 65 is an Italian Eurodance group formed in 1998 and best known for pioneering in pitch correction and Auto-Tune, and for their international hit "Blue (Da Ba Dee)". Their other hit singles include "Move Your Body" and "Too Much of Heaven", all of which appeared on their album Europop, released in late 1999. The name "Eiffel" was chosen randomly by a computer program and the "65" was scribbled onto their name on a demo by mistake; it was actually part of a phone number.

Eiffel 65 achieved considerable success in Italy, the rest of Europe, United States, and Canada. Europop peaked in the top five on the Billboard 200, was at the top of the MuchMusic countdown, and sold over two million…

MADC to Stage Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew

As all the world’s a stage, so San Anton Gardens will once again be transformed into a theatre for the Malta Amateur Dramatics Club’s annual Shakespeare performance.

In fact, rehearsals are already underway for the retelling of the Bard’s The Taming of the Shrew, which will be staged from 14-23 July and directed by the renowned Polly March.

TOTS is one of Shakespeare’s best-known comedies, although it does have its darker moments. The main plot depicts the courtship of Petruchio and Katherina – the headstrong, obdurate shrew. “Katherina maybe be an unwilling participant in the relationship but Petruchio ‘tames’ her with a variety of psychological torments until she becomes a desirable, compliant, and obedient bride,” says Polly. “The challenge we’re facing is how best to alter the perception that this play is, at its darkest, about spousal abuse. This is a love story, about two people who find their match – and their equal – in each other.”

Of course, The Taming of The Shrew is also a …

Le Carnaval Romain - The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra

In this distinctly Roman-themed concert, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra sets the scene with Berlioz's Le Carnaval Romain overture before being joined by the brilliant young pianist Dmitry Ishkhanov for a performance of Kabalevsky's Third Piano Concerto.

Inspired by the heroic gladiator who led the slave uprising against the Roman Republic, Khachaturian's Spartacus Suite has also been featured in many movie scores.

Respighi's Pines of Rome is a symphonic poem which vividly depicts pine trees in four different locations across Rome, including at the Villa Borghese gardens and along the Appian Way.
