Ideas for next batch
I'm thinking of creating a collection with intense blues. Ballpoint pen blue so to say. I can visualise these black/grey wireframe people roaming around in ink blue backgrounds and shades. Naturally I'll share the first creation when its done.

Congratulations to my artist friend Keith Balzan
I'd like to congratulate my old school friend Keith Balzan on his excellent material recently exhibited at St James Cavalier. Keith, for as long as I can recall has always been an artist.

Digging up college memories (St Aloysius College) there was at least one school term where we shared a bench (a bench being a 2-seater design and sometimes 4-seater thanks to good old Br Philip Chircop SJ).

I have vivid recollections of all the cheeky comments we used to whisper in each other's ears which usually fell under one of these 3 categories: Teacher Trivia, Freudian slips or Art.

Being Aloysians we used to enjoy Wednesdays off instead of Saturdays unlike all the other schools (which is incidentally going to change as from next year). This meant that Wednesday was usually a blank page on our diaries (not having any homework planned), which made this page a perfect candidate for school time doodling, sketches and sometimes real works of art. I have them stacked away somewhere and guess Keith would have probably done the same.

A very interesting thing to note is that sharing our same class was the now established artist, James Vella Clark. Another good old school friend to whom I wish the best of luck. So it turns out that our year was quite gifted in terms of art (not to mention other folks which spring to mind who have now ended up in media/tv production and theatre!) And yes, even James' diary was always brimming with brilliant work.

Please do visit Keith's site and check out his excellent work at http://www.keithbalzan.com

And while we're at it here's James Vella Clark's http://www.jamesvellaclark.com

Taking longer to settle than expected!
Its not that I don't want to dedicate more time to painting its that I've been literally swept off my feet by a huge backlog of work which kept on piling in the week following the birth of our second daughter.

It looks like I'm almost there though. Please stand by!

Shall I dedicate more time for Children's Art? (As in art for Children's rooms)
Lately I've been contemplating whether to dedicate more time to children's art. This would give me a chance to put in humorous cartoony characters ... something that comes natural to me.

I just love putting a smile on children's faces. In fact I rarely miss a chance to doodle when writing birthday cards...especially for children.

So .. this rather settles it. This week I'll have a go at my first idea for the set. I'll start thinking about "Zebra with a cold" or "Mr Zebra has a runny nose". :)

The image below shows the style I've experimented with so far. In this case I did not plan out the image first (as in pencil). I simply took the risk of getting everything flowing right on the first attempt. Much more tricky of course but the end result has a dynamic depth and mix of colours to it which I feel is worth the effort.
