WE HAVE JUST RETURNED FROM OUR HOLIDAY IN GOZO AND ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR TRIP WAS THE DELICATA WINE FESTIVAL. WE ATTENDED THE EVENT AT NADUR ON BOTH FRIDAY AND SUNDAY AND WERE VERY IMPRESSED BY THE ORGANISATION AND CONTENT OF THE PROGRAMME. TO HAVE SUCH A FANTASTIC EVENT IN SUCH A MAGNIFICENT SETTING WAS A CREDIT TO ALL INVOLVED. WE HAVE BEEN HOLIDAYING IN GOZO FOR THE PAST 7 YEARS AND LOVE BOTH THE PLACE AND ITS PEOPLE. WE LOOK FORWARD TO RETURNING IN 2006 AND SHALL DEFINETLY INCLUDE THE DELICATA WINE FESTIVAL ON OUR " MUST DO" LIST. DAVID SHEILA AND EMMA LUND

The wine event of the year is back! Delicata Classic Wine Festival 2005 The greatest wine event on the Maltese islands is back again for the fourth consecutive year. The Delicata Classic Wine Festival is returning once again to the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta and the good news for all wine enthusiasts is that the fun will go on for four nights instead of the customary three. This year the festival will kick off with a Jazz night on Thursday 4th August and continue to Sunday 7th August 2005. Entrance is just 50c and visitors wishing to try as many wines as they like from the vast choice on offer need only purchase an official souvenir wine festival glass which is theirs to keep. Throughout the evening numerous wines from Malta grown grape varieties will be available including such favourites as Gran Cavalier, Medina Vineyards and Victoria Heights and exciting new wines like Fior del Mondo and Grand Vin de Hauteville Shiraz Cabernet. A selection of international food dishes will also be on sale to accompany the wines, as well as the popular al fresco seated dining area ‘Grand Harbour Grill’ with spectacular views of the bastions and the three cities. Live entertainment will be laid on throughout the festival as well as a re-enactment of the ancient art of grape crushing performed to music and dance. Just two weeks later on the 19th, 20th and 21st of August the festival moves to Nadur Gozo, where the wine will flow once more. For the third consecutive year and introducing an extra third night of fun, anyone unlucky enough to have missed the Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Valletta need only make their way to the viticultural heart of Gozo in Nadur and enjoy more great food, great entertainment and of course many, many great wines.
