Vodafone Music Jam featuring Ira Losco by Ramona Portelli for MM
Saturday 17th March was a day to remember for Ira Losco and her fans!!! It took place at the GrandMaster Suite at the The Hilton. The doors opened at 8pm. The concert was organized exclusively for Vodafone customers, and was the first in a long line-up of planned Vodafone Music Jams featuring the best local talent as well as international acts. The concert started with Clare Agius as host announcing Bitterside on stage. They were followed by Chasing Pandora and Scar. After half an hour break, it was Ira Losco’s turn to perform. She was accompanied by her band and she gave a great performance. Ira performed songs from her new album `Unmasked` as well as some well known favourities that have dominated local airwaves. The winner’s comment : Mark Bartolo “... Ira gave an impressive performance of her songs in an acoustic style. A concert with a difference. Congratulations for an excellent performance!” Ramona also got in touch with Ira for her comments Ramona:- How do you feel about last Sat’s Vodafone Music Jame Ira:- I am tremendously happy with the outcome of my first concert. I loved every minute on that stage…although the set was demanding because it was the longest show I ever played, I delivered each song with all my energy and passion for my music…I really felt the audience were enjoying it…I was feeding off their energy and I think the feeling was reciprocal. I was so glad to see so many people celebrating music…and singing to my songs. Singing gives me all I’ve ever dreamt of, I love performing and I can’t wait to create more music and bring it to my audience. I would love to thank everyone who has been part of this fantastic journey. Ramona:- Any more plans/gigs for the near future? Ira:- Another album is definitely in the pipeline...and my next large scale performance in June. It's going to be fantastic. Anyone who attended the unplugged concert, knows what to expect and I can confidently say that they ain't seen nothing yet!!! hehehe that's what performing does to you, it makes you hunger for the next event and it triggers off more creativity!! Ramona: Would you like to add some special comments for manicmalta.com readers? Ira:- I'd like to thank all the manicmalta readers for their constant belief in me and my music. is only thanks to the interest and support of many out there that I continue to enjoy making music!! Thank you Ira ;) |

THE VODAFONE MUSIC JAM LAUNCHED WITH IRA LOSCO Vodafone Malta Limited has launched a new concept - The Vodafone Music Jam. During the coming months Vodafone will be supporting a series of musical events through The Vodafone Music Jam. This was announced during a press conference held at Club 22, Portomaso Tower today. The Vodafone Music Jam kicks off with a one off unplugged concert by Ira Losco on the 17th of March.
The concert which is being organised exclusively for Vodafone customers is the first in a long line-up of the Vodafone Music Jam series of events featuring the best local talent as well as international acts. Ira Losco, will be performing a live unplugged performance on Saturday 17th March at the Grandmaster Suite at The Hilton. Doors open at 8pm. Ira Losco will be accompanied by her band, as well as guest musicians. She will be performing songs from her new album ‘Unmasked’ and as well as some well known favourites that have dominated local airwaves. The night will be hosted by Claire Agius and will also feature Chasing Pandora, Scar and Daniel Genius from Bitterside as supporting acts.
Alison Bezzina, Vodafone’s Brand Manager, said ‘Vodafone has been supporting the local music scene for a number of years. This year we are taking it a step further with the Vodafone Music Jam, presenting a series of events that will showcase Maltese talent as well as top international acts. More details will be announced in the near future.’ When asked to comment about her music Ira Losco said ‘I love writing and recording music, but if there’s one thing I can’t find a comparison to, it’s performing my music live. Nothing compares to sharing my words and music with my audience together with my band on stage.’
‘I am thrilled to have Vodafone’s constant support and am looking forward to this concert,’ added Ira. According to Ira Losco’s manager, Howard Keith, this will be a one off concert of this kind by Ira, and certainly one not to be missed. Ira Losco launched her fourth album titled ‘Unmasked’ in December 2006, when, together with her band, she played an unplugged set to a packed audience at Axis. The album immediately reached number one in the sales charts after just one week of its release, with its first single ‘Winter Day’ shooting up to number three in local radio chart. The album has been described as ‘more about taking a deep look at herself, looking for her more intimate side’.
