Malta Jazz Festival - Annual:
Every July a popular jazz festival enlivens the 16th-century UNESCO World Heritage Site of Valletta, capital of Malta, for three summer nights. Established in 1990, the festival attracts world-renowned jazz musicians to perform on the Grand Harbour of this beautiful, seaside town.
Past performers have included Al Di Meola, Diana Krall, Chick Corea, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Wayne Shorter, and the festival always presents an eclectic range of musical talent.
The venue for the concerts, Ta'Liesse, is beside the Grand Harbour, below the floodlit bastions of Malta's baroque fortress walls. As it's an open-air venue, tickets can be bought on the day, or booked in advance from the festival website.

Celebrated in seven towns on the Mediterranean island of Malta and its sister Gozo, the Feast of the Assumption (Santa Maria) is the height of the summer season of religious festivals (festas) and also a public holiday.

The festa is a commemoration of the patron saint of the village/town and is celebrated annually. Apart from the church services in the parish church, the celebrations are highlighted by outdoor festivities, mainly in the form of band marches and spectacular fireworks displays.
