The
Delicata Wine Festival better known as the Delicata Classic Wine
Festival is a unique 'not to be missed' event so far held annually
in the picturesque upper barrakka gardens in Valletta.
Entrance is usually free, although visitors wishing to taste the
vast range of free wines on show will need to purchase a Lm3.00
official Festival glass, which will be theirs to keep as a souvenir.
As you walk between the various stalls you will be able to taste
and compare the numerous grape varieties grown in Malta and Gozo
and savour Maltese gastronomic delicacies which have been specifically
chosen to complement the wines. Live entertainment is also laid
on throughout the two evenings, as well as fireworks and re-enactments
of the ancient art of grape crushing.
The Delicata Classic Wine Festival, is also held in Gozo attracting
hundreds of people. The two-day festival is organised by Delicata
in collaboration with the Nadur Local Council at the Fatima Street
Gardens. Attractions included an audio-visual presentation of modern
viticultural and wine-making techniques practised by Emmanuel Delicata
and al fresco dining with spectacular views of Malta, Comino and
the Ghajnsielem feast. Entertainment shows take place on both evenings.
