Becky Shaw

A disastrous blind date on Friday 13.

Masquerade Theatre Company has a solid track record in producing international, cutting-edge productions. The company upcoming production Becky Shaw, a sharp comedy by Gino Gionfriddo, promises to be one of the most intriguing and witty plays this season.

Becky Shaw successfully premiered off-Broadway in 2009 and was also a Pulitzer Prize finalist. The New York Times dubbed the comedy as a corker of a new play, a tangled tale of love, sex and ethics that is as engrossing as it is ferociously funny.

The smash-hit play is a comedy of romantic errors with all the right ingredients to keep the audiences at the edge of their seats guessing what will happen next following a blind date which goes terribly wrong. When Suzanna decides to set her best friend Max up on a blind date with her husband mysterious co-worker, Becky Shaw, she sets into motion a series of cataclysmic events forever changing all of their lives.

Our company is always on the lookout for new, exciting work to bring to Maltese audiences and this exceptional script together with a superb cast will certainly offer an engaging and enjoyable experience to end the theatre season, said Masquerade artistic director anthony bezzina.

The cast of five actors led by bezzina includes Isabel Warrington, Malcolm Galea, Laura Best, Toni Attard and Sue Scantlebury.

Becky Shaw will open on Friday 13 April 2012 at St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Valletta, and runs till Sunday 29 April 2012 - weekends only.  Tickets can be booked online at www.sjcav.org or by phone on 21223200.  Discounted tickets at EUR 10.00 are available for Friday 13 show.
