An
open invitation to a re-enactment of a Traditional Maltese Wedding in Zurrieq.
This is going
to take place in the streets and near the chapel of Bubaqra a hamlet in the
limits of Zurrieq. This initiative will help those present to participate in
this event. The re-enactors will all be wearing colourful traditional costumes
for the occasion. The activity begins with the basil pot in the bride window,
then the match making, the dowry contract at a notary public, the wedding procession
and ceremony and finally the reception. The reception consists of traditional
Maltese food. Folk music, dancing and traditional trade’s exhibits entertain
the people, who attend this activity.
This
activity will be organised by the Bubaqra Administrative Committee within
the Zurrieq Local Council in collaboration with the Cultural Committee within
the St Catherine Band Club Zurrieq, and with the support of the Ministry for
Home and Parliamentary Affairs and the Malta Tourism Authority MTA.
