DETAILS

This intensive theatre workshop is a practical exploration of ways to make theatre which reflects the world, the ideas, and skills of the participants. It will give the participants an insight into ideas which will both empower and inspire both them and potential audiences.

It is limited to 12 participants aged 18 to 24. Preference will be given to females – as the focus of the workshop will relate to the ideas of “APOTHEOSIS” – the absence of female participation in political life and the role of women in Maltese society.

The idea is to get participants to think about creating theatre  - not staging a script - using a variety of methods and approaches - but primarily collaborative creativity.

Participants will use methods, techniques and ideas including mind-mapping, music, dance, Laban, Grotowski, Peter Brook, Living Theatre, Charles Mee, John Berger,  and other international theatre makers to stimulate ideas.

Participants will be asked to imagine, learn, reflect, assimilate, make, and create.

The fee for the weekend is €50 – including the tickets to see “Apotheosis” on Sunday night.

Potential participants must commit to the entire weekend.

The workshop will be led by John Baraldi, a British-American theatre director and teacher, who has worked across Europe and the USA. For nine years he was the Director of East 15 Acting School in the UK (Rated #1 for Drama in The Times Good University Guide), was Dean of Arts Educational Schools London, and a Director at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland – as well as heading several major performing arts venues in the UK and Ireland. He is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.

Potential applicants should send an email explaining why they want to join as well as a bit about themselves to 2mozarts@gmail.com by 28 February 2019.
