What it is
As part of European Archaeology Days, Heritage Malta opens the Salina Bay excavation to the public for a free open day on 12 June 2026. Visitors can see an active dig up close, meet the archaeologists working the site by the salt pans at Salina, and hear what is being uncovered. It is a relaxed, family-friendly chance to look behind the scenes of Maltese archaeology. Getting there: Salina is on the coast between Bugibba and St Paul's Bay, on the bus route along the bay. Check Heritage Malta for the open-day hours.
