What it is
Spiral Festival lands in Malta from Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August 2026 as a new chapter of the EXIT 2026 Global Tour - the international spin-off of EXIT, the multi-award-winning Serbian festival that has become one of Europe's most celebrated music events. For its Malta debut, Spiral brings a genuinely big-name electronic line-up to one of the Mediterranean's most scenic island settings. The headline names confirmed for the first edition are a real coup: Fatboy Slim, the techno star Nina Kraviz, Argy, Lilly Palmer, Kasia and many more, spanning big-room dance, house and techno across the weekend. It is the kind of bill that would draw a crowd anywhere in Europe, and having it on a compact island where the festival sites are minutes from the sea is exactly what makes a Maltese festival trip appealing. The weekend is built around standout venues. Day 1 (Friday 31 July) is at Gianpula Village, Malta's largest open-air club complex out in the countryside near Rabat; Day 2 (Saturday 1 August) moves to the seaside Cafe del Mar; and the line-up also takes in the Toyroom Beach club. A full festival weekend pass starts from around EUR 55 (plus booking fee), with individual day tickets from about EUR 35 - very good value for a line-up of this calibre. The festival is delivered with strong local backing, including G7 Events, GMED Entertainment and Visit Malta, which usually means a well-run production. For a visitor, Spiral is a reason to build a trip around the very end of July, when Malta is at its summer peak: hot days, warm sea and long nights. The island's main resort areas - St Julian's, St Paul's Bay and Sliema - are within easy reach of the venues and make a natural base, with hotels, restaurants, beaches and nightlife on the doorstep. The festival's own partners include Malta International Airport and KM Malta Airlines, underlining that this is pitched at international visitors flying in as much as locals. A few practical notes. This is an adults' electronic festival, so expect a late-night, high-energy crowd; check the specific age policy for each venue when you book. Getting between the sites is easiest by Uber or Bolt, especially after the late finishes, since Gianpula in particular is out of the towns and public transport is limited at night - factor the journey home into your planning. The official ride and transport partners are worth using. Bring sun protection and water for the daytime, beach-ready clothes for the seaside venues, and something light for the warm evenings. As a brand-new festival from a hugely respected European organiser, with a first line-up headlined by Fatboy Slim and Nina Kraviz and venues that range from a countryside mega-club to a sunset beach club, Spiral is one of the most exciting additions to Malta's 2026 summer calendar. For electronic-music fans timing a Mediterranean trip, the end-of-July weekend is a strong pick. Tickets, the full line-up, venue details and the day-by-day schedule are on the official Spiral Festival site. Because headline electronic events like this sell strongly once the full bill is out, and weekend passes are better value than day tickets, it is worth booking ahead. Check the official page for the latest details and any line-up additions before you travel.
